SPECIAL BOND ELECTION

February 7, 2006

 

INSTRUCTIONS TO VOTERS:  If the voter desires to vote for the issue of bonds, the voter shall mark the ballot in the space to the right of the words " YES - IN FAVOR OF issuing bonds for the purposes stated in Ordinance No. 4432."   If the voter desires to vote against the issue of bonds, the voter shall mark the ballot in the space to the right of the words "NO - AGAINST issuing bonds for the purposes stated in Ordinance No. 4432." 

 

PROPOSITION

 

SHALL THE CITY OF LEWISTON BE AUTHORIZED TO ISSUE AND SELL ITS GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS IN THE PRINCIPAL AMOUNT OF $4,500,000 TO PAY THE COST OF ACQUISITION, CONSTRUCTION, FURNISHING, AND EQUIPPING OF A PUBLIC LIBRARY FACILITY, AND COSTS INCIDENTAL THERETO, SAID BONDS TO MATURE AND TO BE PAYABLE FROM A LEVY OF TAXES OVER A TERM NOT TO EXCEED TWENTY (20) YEARS, ALL AS MORE FULLY PROVIDED IN ORDINANCE NO. 4432, ADOPTED ON December 19, 2005.

The following information is required by Section 34-440, Idaho Code: 

The City has no existing general obligation bonded indebtedness.  The City has existing revenue bond and other indebtedness of $1,583,768.  The interest rate anticipated on the proposed bonds is estimated to be 4.5% per annum.  The range of anticipated rates is from three percent (3.0%) to six and percent (6.5%) per annum.  The total amount to be repaid over the life of the proposed bonds, principal and interest, based on the anticipated interest rate, is estimated to be $6,918,853.
