Laws of Special Interest

NEZ PERCE COUNTY ORDINANCES

Ordinances are laws adopted by the County Commissioners. Ordinances have effect everywhere within the County, except within the city limits.

PUBLIC RECORDS INSPECTION REQUESTS

Idaho's Public Records Laws are found in Idaho Code Sections 74-101 through 74-126. These laws govern public access to government records. Idaho's public writing laws function in a similar fashion to the Federal Freedom of Information Act. The prosecutor’s office has no jurisdiction to enforce public records requests.

The Idaho Attorney General's Office has a legal manual available regarding the public record laws.

OPEN MEETING LAWS

Idaho's Open Meetings Laws are found in Idaho Code Sections 74-201 through 74-208. The county prosecutor has the primary responsibility for enforcing compliance with the open meeting laws within their county.

Idaho Attorney General's Office may also take action to enforce the open meeting laws. The Attorney General's Office has a legal manual available regarding the open meeting laws.

ETHICS IN GOVERNMENT

There are three primary Idaho Acts which regulate the ethical conduct of government officials. The first is the Ethics In Government Act (repealed). The second is the Prohibition Against Contracts With Officers Act (repealed). The last is the Bribery And Corrupt Influence portion of the criminal code found at Idaho Code Sections 18-1301 through 18-1309 and Idaho Code Sections 18-1351 through 18-1362.

The Idaho Attorney General's Office has a legal manual available regarding ethics in government.
