Crime Victims Compensation Program

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The Crime Victims Compensation Program was created by the Idaho Legislature to assist victims of crime deal with the financial burdens placed on victims of criminal conduct.

The program is administered by the Idaho Industrial Commission. There are various rules that govern the distribution of funds, including limitations on a victim's ability to receive compensation.

ACCESSING ASSISTANCE THROUGH THE PROGRAM

Important information is available from the Industrial Commission's Crime Victim web page, including necessary forms and instructions. Their site has answers to such questions as:

  • Who may file a claim for financial assistance?
  • What are the conditions for eligibility?
  • What are the reimbursement expenses?
  • What expenses are not covered?
  • How do I file a claim for benefits?
  • How is the program funded?
  • What is restitution?
  • How do I request restitution?
  • What happens after an application is filed?
  • Does the offender have to be convicted for the victim to be eligible for compensation?
  • If the victim has an insurance policy, will the program still cover the victim's expense?
