Solid Waste collection in rural Nez Perce County is provided by Latah Sanitation, Inc. or Sunshine Disposal & Recycling, Inc., depending on property location.

Sunshine Disposal & Recycling is located at 285 O'Conner Road in Lewiston, phone (208) 743-5900.

Latah Sanitation also operates two One Stop Drop stations in rural Nez Perce County that accept household garbage, appliances, furniture, lumber, concrete, insulation, tires and recyclable materials, plus lawn and garden trimmings.The drop sites are located at Sweetwater and at the junction of the Reubens/Gifford Road and US 95. These sites are open on alternating Saturdays - Sweetwater first and third, the highway junction second and fourth.

The Nez Perce County Treasurer's Office handles the rural solid waste billing. Please call them at (208) 799-3030, with any billing questions.

Those County residents on Solid Waste collection can also dispose of trash at Lewiston's Solid Waste Transfer Station at no additional cost.

Hours 8:00 a.m. - to 4:30 p.m. Closed: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

Saturday, May 29, 2010, will be the second of three community clean-up days in Nez Perce County.  This event will be held just east of Culdesac City Hall alongside the railroad tracks. 

Saturday, June 12, 2010, will be the final community clean-up day in Nez Perce County.  This event will be held at the Big Canyon Fire Station in Peck. 

At the clean-up days, materials should be sorted into the following categories: household waste, tires, metals, construction and demolition debris and recyclables. This event is designed to keep our County looking as pristine as possible, so your participation is greatly appreciated.
