The Sheriff is mandated by Idaho State Code 18-3302 on the process of issuing concealed weapons permits. Idaho Concealed Weapons laws Concealed weapons permit FAQs The Sheriff shall require any person applying for original issuance of a permit to submit their fingerprints in addition to the other information required by submission. The Idaho State Police shall conduct a national fingerprint-based records check and return the results within 75 to 90 days. The Sheriff shall not issue a license before receiving the results of the records check. Before a person can obtain a permit, a person shall have proof of firearms training with a National Rifle Association training card, Fish and Game Hunter Safety, firearms safety courses, or an "Honorable" discharge from the Armed Forces.
INITIAL APPLICATIONS: Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. You will need to fill out the CWP application. You must provide firearms training documentation within 90 days. Your fingerprints will be taken. Bring a valid form of picture identification. Initial application fee is due at the time of the application. Background checks take approximately 90 days. You will be notified by mail if you have been approved or denied. An issue fee is due at the time your permit is issued.
Renewals Licenses are valid for five years. To renew your license, you must come in 30 days prior to the expiration date.
